This kit is designed as a fix for rails that have egged out mounting holes where the center shock cross shaft mounts. The plates mount on the inside of the rail and are located by an existing idler wheel mounting bolt to ensure the shaft is oriented in the factory location. The plate serves as the guide to drill the 2nd mounting hole in the rail. New shock spacer tubes are included which account for the added material of the repair plates. WIth the chances of finding color matched rails getting slimmer and slimmer this kit allows one to retain the original colors and not have to paint rails to match. This is also less labor than a rail swap and the cost of kit is less than just one new oem rail.

In addition to repairing rails it is also encouraged as a saver. The unique design encapsulates the shaft and therefore if the shaft mounting hardware were to come loose, the shaft still remains fixed in place. Redundancy on snowmobiles is never a bad thing.
